In 2010, during the dark days of the of the real estate crisis, I published Twas The Night Before Christmas – A Real Estate Parody as a way to brighten the holiday season and ensure people that we would survive the Great Recession.
2020 has been such a painful year for so many that I felt it was again time to add some levity and good cheer:
_____________________
Twas the night before Christmas and Americans were home,
Quarantined out of fear that COVID would roam.
Their masks were prepared should they venture outside.
This is no way to live! How long must we abide?!?
Politicians from ivory towers preached, “You all must obey!”
Dr. Fauci has spoken! From his gospel do not stray!
No Praying! No Restaurants! No Gatherings! (But protests are OK??)
No Traveling! No Thanksgiving! No Christmas! We must keep this virus at bay!
Many heeded his words, while others felt doubtfully wary.
For those same politicians were caught in restaurants and social situations contrary.
This is not the first time Americans have faced pain,
We’ve faced challenges before. We shall face them again.
Mighty America is special. We hold our liberties dear!
We do not cower; we fight on and we don’t live in fear!
We have nothing to fear but fear itself. FDR’s words still ring true.
Whether you stay home or go out, that should be up to you!
It’s not the years in our lives that count, but the life in our years.
For those fears that get the best of us often aren’t as bad as they appear.
2020 has been painful and divisive. It’s time for that to end.
Politics, opinions, viruses; as Americans it’s time to transcend.
A new year is approaching. We have healing to do!
Plus, Pfizer has made a promising breakthrough!
To all my beloved readers, my sincere wishes to you,
A Joyous Holiday Season filled with Health and Prosperity; and a Happy, Healthy New Year too!
